How to Maintain Your Chola Sahib | Chola Sahib For Guru Ji Darbar |
(A simple and respectful guide)
Before this, when we spoke about What Is the Meaning of Chola Sahib?, we understood that even a simple piece of cloth becomes sacred when it is offered with love. And before that, in How to Choose the Right Chola Sahib for Your Darbar, we saw that it is not about choosing perfectly… but about allowing what feels true.
Now that we understand what a Chola Sahib truly is… maintaining it becomes very natural. Because when something is sacred, you don’t need too many instructions. You already know how to care for it.
Handle with Care
A Chola Sahib is not just fabric. It is something that has been offered to Guruji. So naturally, it should be: handled gently, folded properly, stored with respect.

Cleaning the Chola Sahib
After use, the Chola Sahib should be cleaned.
From what we have heard in sangat, when Guruji was in his physical form, the Cholas were always sent for proper cleaning.
So ideally: Dry cleaning is best (to maintain quality and detailing).
But at the same time, if that is not always possible, you can simply: hand wash gently at home.
There is no pressure to do it perfectly. Just do it with care.
After Cleaning
Once cleaned: Let the fabric dry properly. Iron it neatly.
That small act of ironing itself brings a certain readiness to it.

Storing the Chola Sahib
This is just as important.
The Chola Sahib should always be: kept separately, not mixed with regular clothing.
Ideally, it should be stored in dedicated Chola covers.
So that: each piece stays protected, everything remains organized, and most importantly… respected.

A Simple Way to Look at It
There is no complicated method here. Just a simple flow: Clean → Dry → Iron → Store separately.
That’s it.
A Small Note from Me
For me, maintaining a Chola Sahib has never felt like a task. It feels like an extension of the same bhav with which it was offered.
The way you fold it, the way you keep it aside… quietly reflects how you feel about it.
And from here… it gently moves into something even more subtle. Something that is not seen… but felt in every step.
How Every Evam Astu Chola Sahib Is Designed with a Bhav.
Because even creation… begins from the same place.
Evam Astu.
With folded hands for Guruji Maharaj.
